Hi everyone,
Still learning and will reach out to my accountant if necessary but I thought I’d ask here first. I own a dance studio and we are having our yearly recital in the next few months. We charge a fee for tickets to the show. All box office duties are handled by the venue. The venue charges a fee for the rental, staffing, cleaning, per ticket flat rate, per ticket percentage, etc.
We have signed a contract with them. Since all box office payments go through them, they apply the collected revenue to the bill and pay out the profit / bill you the difference after the event. They also remit all HST collected on their end.
Wondering how I go about entering this (using QBO)? Do I just enter the profit as income (since it’s the only money actually hitting my business account) or do I enter the total income and total expense as if the venue isn’t involved? Or, something else?
Thank you for your help!
